Roasting Pan Anyone?

So, you may have heard of the word pan, but have you heard of the Roasting Pan? You may be asking yourself this exact question. What is a Roasting Pan?

Well, a Roasting Pan is a cooking pan that is designed especially for cooking, boiling and roasting food in an oven or in broiler. The pan can come with a rack or without a rack. The main role that this pan has, is preparing low-fat foods. You achieve this by straining away fat from what you are cooking. Your pan comes with a rack that has holes in it and sits right inside the roasting pan. The meat cooks as it sits on the rack, letting the fat drip to the bottom of the pan, keeping the meat away from the fat.

One of the great benefits about owning a roasting pan has to be the durability of the pan. They are able to withstand a high amount of heat without destroying the pan. It is very well-known that other pans such as shallow pans, can cook food products much more quickly then deeper ones, but one of the benefits to having a deeper pan is that you can easily cook and roast your food at a much higher temperature without having to worry about burning your food, allowing your meat to roast within their juices.

You might have seen an old black enamel roasting pan in your home around the holidays. My grand mother took hers out to roast turkeys and beef roasts. Stores have so many different manufacturers with this cooking method that it is good to ask around and do some research as to what quality of pan you are looking for. I myself prefer stainless steel. I have an All-Clad roaster. It never fails me, is extremely easy to clean up and stays great looking. I tuck it up on the top shelf of my pantry when I'm not using it.
